i was wondering if anyone can recommend a specific style of jazz sneaker (not brand, but actual style). i have characters and lyricals, but i am in the market for a jazz sneaker. does it make more sense to get that rather than a boot?

one number in the show i am in (Mame-- this is the dance for the song "Mame") has a lot of soft shoe, kicks, leaps, and turns.

Click here to see the profile of this user 		Re:dance shoes - 2007/01/13 11:56 I have bloch sneakers and I love them, but I mostly only wear them for teaching/directing & classes/rehearsals because they don't blend in well with most costumes for musical theatre.

I had a pair of bloch lace-up jazz ankle boots until they wore through, and I adored them. From the audience they looked just like those old button-up boots, so they worked perfectly for a lot of the shows I was in. (They also gave me a little extra ankle support.) I haven't tried the new slip-on boots, but I bet they would work well.

A regular lace-up oxford is a good all-purpose musical theatre shoe, but I recommend the split sole if you are doing a lot of dancing. _____________
