Understudying? - 2008/01/09 16:56 I got to a Peforming Arts HS.We are doing Fame.I'm cast as Ms.Bell(the dance teacher)Today I was told that I would be understudying Carmen, and to learn all her part and show up for practice after school to learn all of it,My teacher said there was a HUGE chance she wouln't be able to perform. She told us when we started the play like 4 months ago she wouldn' t cast understudies unless it's was really necessary. This must be big.She said I was the only one who could pull off, even with my appearence

Did I mention I'm blonde and pale?Carmen is Hispanic.
I have to dye my hair and wear sunless tanner.

should I get really ready, any other tips for understudies?

Re:Understudying? - 2008/01/10 20:59 First of all Congratulations for getting to understudy such a great role!

Second yes be preparing intensely as possible because believe it or not being an understudy is great for two reason maybe three.

One, it looks great on a resume especially if your cast in another part.
Two, Their may be a chance you'll actually get to go on!
Lastly, you'll develop alot more as an actor by learning two parts maybe even three parts depending on how many you understudy.

The only tip I can provide is prepare, prepare and prepare some more!

Brush over everything just in case, and if you don't get to go on as Carmen, like I said before it'll still be on your resume

& it'll look great that pale, blonde haired, blue eyed girl could pull off a sassy, hispanic girl
Name: Bruce

The Butler Did It Singing (Chandler)
