Motivation - 2008/03/28 21:15 Okay... As most of you know, I've been taking voice lessons for a while. The problem is, I can't seem to get motivated to practice. I've heard it takes 21 days to make or break a habit...the trouble is I can't practice 21 days in a row to make it a habit!
Any ways to get motivated? I try and motivate myself by telling myself I can only get better if I practice, but that doesn't really help.

Re:Motivation - 2008/03/28 21:24 set aside a time to practice and clear your schedule for that time- say, right before dinner or when you get home from school. Also, it helps to pick something you're really excited about working on.

I'm sure everyone else will have great tips too- gotta go, I have some lines to memorize.

Re:Motivation - 2008/03/28 21:32 What helps me to practice is to listen to my favorite singers, then i think "i want to be as good as them someday", so i want to practice. hope this helps. -Laura

Favorite Musical: PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!!!!!!! As for more "happy" musicals i like BATB and Music Man (and lots of others, that i can't think of right now!)

Next production: R&H Cinderella?

Re:Motivation - 2008/03/29 18:22 I sing in my car. The people next to me at stop lights think I am crazy, because I usually am doing the blocking with the songs at the same time. There is a CD called "Winning Warm-ups for the Voice" that I bought. I don't think I have ever sang anywhere but in the car. Put warmup exercises on your iPod and sing on the bus on the way to and from school. Everyone around you will think you are nuts, but if you are anything like me, they probably already DO .
