Plays for my Company? - 2008/03/24 15:01Any Ideas on Musical for a small High School theatre company Musical? We are gonna be about 20 strong next year,We did FAME this year with 12 people.It'll probably be mostly girls,with maybe 3-5 boys.So a play with mainly women would be Ideal.Extreme dancing is encouraged.A play that has a lead I could play would be even better!(lol,jk)

Re:Plays for my Company? - 2008/03/29 18:18Well, everyone else is doing Seussical! The music is tough, because there are a lot of time changes, but it is a fun show to do. Most of the parts for females, and some of them, like Jojo could be a male or female. The only parts that are really gender specific are the mayor and Horton. Our Cat is a woman. The Wickersham monkeys could be either male or female (except the vocals would be sort of low for the average female singer).
If extreme dancing is called for there is "Chorus Line". Some stuff has to be cut. My high school (the one I teach at ) did CL last fall. We changed the one number to be "This and That". I think we all know what it REALLY is and how inappropriate that would BE for a high school. I can't believe we didn't get in trouble for some of the stuff, especially because we did "Over the Tavern" last Spring and one newspaper took us to the woodshed for "being disrespcetful to religion" at Easter (??????).
