Best Cast Recordings? - 2008/05/02 20:40 When I look for a show on iTunes, I sometimes have a hard time choosing which recording of a show I want. (It doesn't help that I usually can't have the speakers on when I have time to be online.) So I'm curious what everyone's favorite cast recording of different shows is. A few I'd especially like to know opinions on are Les Miserables, Carousel, and South Pacific. Feel free to offer opinions on any show though!

Re:Best Cast Recordings? - 2008/05/02 21:35 I love the TAC of Les Miserables because of the amazing people in it, though it doesn't include parts of some songs since it was condensed for concert version. But you have Lea Salonga, Colm Wilkenson, Michael Ball, Ruthie, etc etc. And I like the OBC version of South Pacific, although I don't have the whole album. -Ali

Currently:
-Sheila; Boys Next Door (postshow depression mode)
-acceptance to acting ensemble
-Bye Bye Birdie (audition- didn't get a callback)

Re:Best Cast Recordings? - 2008/05/02 21:50 The Tenth Anniversary Cast Recording is by far my favorite of the Les Mis recordings. (I have that, OBC and OLC Recordings) I'm not too familiar with Carousel and South Pacific.

Other that those some of my favorite cast recordings are-
-Avenue Q (Quite inappropriate though.) (OBCR)
-The Drowsy Chaperone (OBCR)
-Guys and Dolls (OBCR)
-Mary Poppins (OLCR)
-Meet Me in St. Louis (OBCR)
-Phantom of the Opera (OBCR)
-Sweeney Todd (2005 Revival Cast)
-Young Frankenstein (OBCR)

However, everyone likes different shows. These are just MY favorite

Re:Best Cast Recordings? - 2008/05/02 23:03 Is there an OBC for Mary Poppins? Because I saw it a few days ago and loved Ashley Brown's voice, but all I could find was the London Cast Recording. Is it as good as the b'way show? Maria

Re:Best Cast Recordings? - 2008/05/02 23:33 I'm pretty sure that there's not an OBCR of Mary Poppins... Just the London cast with Laura Michelle Kelley.

I've not seen the broadway show, but I do know that all the songs (and the original Bert) are the same.
