Meet Our Contestants: Jamie Muscato

"I think that Jamie has a fantastic voice for someone so young and would love to see him in the final of this competition. i'm looking forward to hearing his next chosen song but especially the pop should he get through the final stage" - Joe

"I'd just like to say what a brilliant voice Jamie has for such a young lad. I really enjoyed his round one song, Let's Face the Music' and thought the judges comments were fantastic. Well done Jamie, you're a winner for me." - Deb

MTA: What got you hooked on musical theatre?

Jamie: I got my first lead role when I was 11, and I've been hooked ever since.

MTA: What is your favourite past performing experience?

Jamie: I played Baby John in West Side Story with a fantastic cast in the main theatre in our town and I've just played Julian in The Dreaming with the National Youth Music Theatre which was a fantastic experience.

MTA: What is your "dream role"?

Jamie: I don't really have a "dream role" I just love being in shows, but I would love to play the phantom!!

MTA: Why did you enter this contest?

Jamie: To hear what other people thought of my singing and get constructive comments. It also gives me the chance to learn new songs from musicals I might not normally sing from and I thought it would be a good thing to do.

MTA: Is there anything that really bugs you about performing or the performance industry?

Jamie: Not getting feedback at auditions. When I feel I've done really well it would be good to get feedback to help for the next audition.

MTA: What is the area you feel you most need to develop?

Jamie: I really should learn to dance properly!

MTA: What do you do when you aren't performing?

Jamie: I'm usually always rehearsing for a show with only a few weeks break a year but I like to go out with my friends or go down the beach.

MTA: Who would you really love to work with?

Jamie: Stephen Schwartz, I love all of his music.

MTA: Anything else you'd like us to know?

Jamie: I hope to make a career in Musical Theatre and film and would love to work in the West End or Broadway! Although I'm only 16 so will probably have a few years to wait yet!
